Thanks Josh! I think Marla probably could have used the Mason’s dagger as Death’s terrible sword, but she didn’t attempt to use it that way, so it didn’t change. (Logistically, it would have taken a giant infodump to explain basically the whole plot of Dead Reign in order to explain such a scene, and I didn’t have any reason to do it, so I left it out!)

Cool, finished the book yesterday, early morning… felt I should sleep before writing a comment.

It is a bitch that Marla got kicked out of Felport, but yeah… so is she. She kinda deserved it. I never had any doubt that Rondeau would go with her. Although technically you could say that she went with him… just don’t tell her I said that :p

The hate mail ending is nice. It’s so Marla. Petty though… I can only imagine most of the people she’s writing to will roll their eyes and throw it out. I don’t much like the Chamberlain, but she’s right that Marla could do some growing up. I don’t imagine she ever will though

So… shark gods? Kinda reminds me of the Everything’s Worse With Sharks trope. Throw in bear gods and… and get them to fight each other and… yeah, I’m just being facetious. Guess I’ll check out the Nex.

(Btw, why didn’t the Mason’s knife become the Death God’s sword in Marla’s hands? Something to do with the alternate universe? Marla’s not married to the AU Death God?)

Excellent ending, Tim, and perfectly apt. Marla’s run of luck couldn’t continue, and I like that she’s been ejected into the larger world to find trouble and kick ass elsewhere. Great opening for Book Six as well.

Sad that Broken Mirrors had to end, but what a hell of an ending. Thanks for the ride.

The Marla Mason series were one of the best series i have ever read.Also the ending of broken mirrors is veeeeery good.I am a new reader,I bought and read your Marla Mason books 1,2,3,4 in about a week and i would like you to know that i am more than willing to donate for a 6th book,if you decide to write it.

Freaking awesome! “It will also be about Nicolette, Crapsey and…” I don’t care about the “and” I just want to read about the one arm bandit and her parasitic sidekick vs Rondeu and Marla (yes, I put his name first on purpose, he IS the bankroll right now). Okay, shark gods would be cool.

OMG, I always love your books. Marla is a great character, please write more. I would feel so sad if I never got to read more about her.

I do like that she got kicked out of Felport. It mixes things up.

Gary: I knew Marla would end by writing hate-filled postcards from the beginning — that’s why I offered the postcard prize! — but the exact content of the card was created only as I wrote it. Kaanapali is lovely. Quite touristy… but I’m a tourist! And it’s so close to so many wonderful beaches and pools and restaurants. The Nex is set in the otherworldy city of Nexington-on-Axis, also known as the Stolen State, the Magpie City, The Nex, The Ax, and The Cage.
